English Brave - Minimum of Grammar for Maximum Results
At English Brave, I believe that grammar must be taught in the context of reading and writing.
At English Brave, I believe that grammar must be taught in the context of reading and writing.
I believe that the first step in mastering a language for an adult learner lies in understanding its structure. And the best place to notice the structure is in works of great writers. Not only will reading allow subconscious language acquisition, but it will also provide extensive material for grammar analysis and endless possibilities for response writing.
My curriculum is built on the idea of using reading to teach essential grammar skills that are most relevant in writing. The expanded selection of reading-based grammar lessons and reading analyses focuses on the aspects of grammar that directly contribute to clear communication of meaning.
I also believe in teaching grammar in the context of students' writing. Only when students can consciously apply grammar concepts in their own writing does writing fluency develop.

Just like you, I learned English as a second language, and to answer my questions the teacher used to say, “Don’t try to understand it. Just repeat.” Fortunately, this didn’t work for me. I found my answers and saw the logic and beauty in the English grammar.
I majored in ESL and have been teaching students in a US college for more than fifteen years. My students not only learn grammar but also begin to enjoy the language. And every semester, I see students like you become confident in English and pass to college level courses. |
